Kind of Nouns

 Noun:

        A Noun is a word used as the name of a person ,place or things.

Kinds of Noun:

        There are five types of Nouns . They are,  

                             1.Proper Noun

                            2.Common Noun

                           3.Collective Noun

                          4.Material Noun 

                         5.Abstract Noun

Proper Noun:

        Proper Noun is defined as the particular name of a person, place or things and etc.,

Example:

      *  India is our country.

     *  Holi is the festival of  colours.

Note:  

  • Proper Noun should always begin with a capital letter.
  • Sometimes ,it can be used as a common noun.

Common Noun:

      Common is defined as the common name to every person, place or things.

Example:
        
      * The Lion is the cruel animal.        
     * The boy is clever.

Material Noun:

          Material Noun is defined as thing made of substances or matters .

Example:

      *  Iron is very useful metal.
      *  Cotton is very cheap.

Collective Noun:

          Collective Noun  is defined as the name of a number (or collection) of persons, things, place taken together and spoken of as one whole.

Example:

       * A grove of  trees.
       *A group of people.

Abstract Noun:

        An Abstract Noun is usually the name of a quality, action, or state considered apart from  the object to which it belongs. the names of arts and science is called as Abstract Noun.

Example:
    
      * Always speak the truth.
      * Wisdom is better than strength.



ANOTHER CLASSIFICATION OF NOUNS:
            
        I. Countable Noun
       II. Uncountable Noun

Countable Noun:
        The noun which can be counted is called as Countable Noun. Collective Noun also comes under this category.

Example:

        * The  mangoes are very sweet.
        * Our team came off victorious.

Note:   

        COUNTABLE NOUNS ARE OF TWO KINDS ,
                               
                            1. Singular Countable
                           2.Plural Countable
          
 Uncountable Noun:
          The Noun which cannot be counted in terms of number are called Uncountable Noun. They are measured in terms of quantity or mass.

Example:
        
            * The officer asked the cup of water.   
            * He drinks a glass of milk daily.
